Tony Hữu Thái Tăng Aerospace Scholarship

1. The Thái Tăng Aerospace Scholarship aims to celebrate the life of its namesake by enabling resilient students to pursue their education in aerospace, including aviation science, with less financial hardship.
2. This scholarship honors Tony Hữu Thái Tăng (1942-2021), a Vietnamese Air Force pilot who escaped Vietnam by helicopter in 1975 and rebuilt his life as a refugee in America. Working nights and weekends as an aerospace machinist at McDonnell Douglas & Boeing, he sacrificed tirelessly to provide his daughters with educational opportunities he never had. A dedicated community leader, he exemplified perseverance, hard work, and service to others. Lost to COVID-19 complications, his legacy lives on by supporting Orange Coast College aviation students who demonstrate the same resilience and commitment to family.
