Santa Ana Army Air Base Wing Scholarship

Santa Ana Army Air Base Wing Scholarship

The Santa Ana Army Air Base Wing/Costa Mesa Historical Society Scholarship is given in commemoration of the 50th anniversary of D-Day.

The base existed from 1942 to 1946 to train bombardiers, navigators, and pilots. It covered the area currently used by Orange Coast College, Costa Mesa High School, Maude Davis Middle School, Vanguard University, the Orange County Fairgrounds, Costa Mesa City Hall, and TeWinkle Park. Mesa del Mar and College Park residential areas were also on the former base. Membership in the Wing, which is a subdivision of the Costa Mesa Historical Society, includes people from all over the United States.

The society was founded in 1966. Our aim is to encourage the interest of youth in the history of the Harbor area in general and the City of Costa Mesa in particular.
