Robert & Van Dees Scholarship

Van Dees is a professor of English as a Second Language at Golden West College. She came to this country as a foreign student on a full scholarship at Hollins University in Virginia. She went on to obtain her master’s degree in French literature at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. Robert Dees received his education at San Jose State University and UCLA. After coming to Orange Coast College as a full-time English instructor in 1978, he went on to serve as the ninth president of OCC from 2005 to 2009.

Robert and Van greatly value education and the scholarships that they received as college students. They have established this scholarship to aid an immigrant student with financial need to transfer to a four-year college or university in the pursuit of a degree in English, ESL, or education.
