Bob Fry Memorial Scholarship
Bob Fry was born in Arizona. The family moved to California in his youth and he graduated from Sutter Creek High School. He earned two bachelor degrees from UC Berkeley as well as a Master Degree in Botany. In 1959 he moved his family to Newport Beach to begin his teaching career at Newport Harbor High School.
In the summers, he worked as a Ranger Naturalist at Yosemite National Park. He demonstrated California Indian Survival skills to youngsters in Newport Mesa Unified School District and the Environmental Nature Center, as well as founded the Nature Center at Happy Aisles in Yosemite National Park. He was an inspiration and mentor to many students and colleagues over the years.
