Arlene Karr-Powell Piano Scholarship

Before her retirement from Orange Coast College, Arlene Karr-Powell was a Professor of Piano and Music Theory, becoming head of the piano department upon the untimely death of Dr. Justin Colyar.

This scholarship is given to assist a highly motivated intermediate or advanced level pianist who is transferring to a four-year college or university as a music major. The recipient should be musically gifted, artistic, and have a strong music theory background.

It is hoped that the person receiving this scholarship will assist some other young person in the future with encouragement and support.
